DBA Announces Citizen of the Year Award
We are very proud to announce our first Citizen of the Year award. We would first like to thank Delran Town Council, and to say how honored we were to be a part of this selection process. We are all very fortunate to be members of this great community, full of many quality persons worthy of this recognition. We would also like to thank the many nominators and the nominees for this inaugural award. It was a very difficult decision, as there are many people dedicated to making our town a better place to live and work.
Our Citizen of the Year is a lifelong resident of Delran, and has spent many decades keeping the residents of Delran safe, spending some 40 years climbing the ranks of the Delran Township Fire Department from firefighter to Chief, and then Commissioner. He has been extremely active with the Fire Department taking weekly duty crews sleeping at the fire house on Wednesday nights, in addition to responding to fire calls on the other days of the week. He is an active member as a New Jersey Certified Instructor in the Department's Driver Training Program and is a part time New Jersey Certified Fire Inspector with the Fire Prevention Bureau.
He serves as an EMT and Deputy Chief of the Delran Emergency Squad and takes a regular duty crew with the Squad two nights a week. His duties as Deputy Chief involves the day to day operations of the duty crew program and the volunteer staff of the Squad.
This year’s Citizen of the Year award goes to James Bauer.
